What is it to be a feminist in different geographical and cultural contexts as well as within different disciplines as  this of the visual? And is it only ‘one’ gender that matters? As early as 1990, a quarter of century ago, Judith Butler  called upon the society to create “gender trouble” by disrupting the binary view of gender sex, gender, and  sexuality. She urged that gender, rather than being an inherent identity, is a performance: an act which grow out of,  reinforces, and is reinforced by societal norm that create the illusion of binaries to examine this widely debated topic the student engaged text by Chimamanda Adichie, Judith Butler, Linda Nochlin to contemplate this Subject employing the library.

A mapping with words as directional signs drawn from words  that stood out during reading, presentation and lecture session from the entrance of the fortress to the library on  the third floor where the visitors were engaged in a speed lecture for three (3) minutes discussing words like Queering, Performing gender, Gender topography, Gastarbeitrin, intersectionality, Reproductive labour etc  As part of the final project an advert-like digital print from a photograph taken with the “Gurken”Installation of  cucumbers and inscription on a hotel bed “everyone can travel collaged on with a NO symbol” as protest to the  untruthfulness of the message and to question resistance even in gender.

The open studio seeks to engage with audience in a quest to interrogate perspectives on the gender discourse.
